Did I ever tell you that I'm a Christian?
I think I did mention it before and most folk would expect that to be the case if you were writing for an evangelical church website anyway.
Well I was going to write a few words on this topic and then I read a poem that someone had posted on my wife's Facebook page.
It is entitled "When I say, 'I'm a Christian'" and says much more than I could have said myself. I have repeated it below too…
When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not shouting, "I've been saved!"
I'm whispering, "I get lost! That's why I chose this way"
When I say, "I am a Christian," I don't speak with human pride
I'm confessing that I stumble - needing God to be my guide
When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on
When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt
When I say, "I am a Christian," I don't think I know it all
I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught
When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are far too visible but God believes I'm worth it
When I say, "I am a Christian," I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache which is why I seek His name
When I say, "I am a Christian," I do not wish to judge
I have no authority - I only know I'm loved
(Carol Wimmer)
This is about the best short description of what it is to be a Christian that I have read in a long time. There is nothing special about Christians, we are just repentant sinners saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
If I could be so bold, what about you?
Is the world maybe just not doing it for you?
Feel like there is something missing in your life?
Are you searching for inner peace and unconditional love?
You too can have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
(John Newton)
