Here are a few thoughts from Psalm 18 on how God helped David through 3 difficult situations:
When all around is darkness, we can SEE our God
Psalm 18:23 "For Thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness"
God never leaves us without a light.
When our enemies come against us. He gives us the STRENGTH we need.
Psalm 18:29 "For by thee I have run through a troop"
He gives us strength to stand up and not retreat, remember there was no provision in God’s armour for retreating. We are not to run away but instead:
James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"
When we are up against a wall. He helps us to SOAR above it.
Psalm 18:29 "and by my God have I leaped over a wall"
Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint"
How can we be confident of Gods help? When we can, like David say this:
Psalm 18:20 "The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath He recompensed me"
Friends, the path of the God's children is often narrow, difficult and hard going. The enemy is often close by and we will fail... and fall.
But remember, if we truly are children of God, we have a perfect Heavenly Father who loves us, cares for us and longs for full and free fellowship with us.
James 4:8 "Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you"
2 Tim 4:18 "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto His heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen"
